Figures painted in August

It was another low production month.

I painted these figures in the first 3 days of the month and just couldn't get motivated to start a new project.

The last figures from my Victrix Napoleonic French box.

2 officer figures on the Right don't count, as they were already painted

28mm 20 figures
Bringing the yearly total to:

 Vehicles:                   4
  Artillery Pieces:      2
     (1/72 scale):      151
     (28+mm):         152
-------------------------
             Total         309

Monthly painting report (June 2019)

After a slow start (painting wise) I didn't pick up my brush until the 12th or so. Still I managed to get a few figures painted.

My current game is Napoleonic Rebels and Patriots.

To that end I painted more French infantry.

First up is another 12 man unit of Fusiliers, from my Victrix Miniatures French 1807-12 box

Deciding I needed another artillery piece I got a Warlord games French Imperial guard firing a 12 pounder

Then I finished my third (and last) Mounted French Officer, from Perry miniatures

A slow month, but I still added to my total:

(28+mm) 17 & 1 artillery piece

Bringing the yearly total to:

 Vehicles:                4
  Artillery Pieces:    2
     (1/72 scale):   151
     (28+mm):       106
-------------------------
             Total       263

Rebels and Patriots game

Last Saturday (22nd June) Cecil and I got together, at the Hamilton Road Gaming Group, located in London, Ontario, Canada, for another game of Rebels and Patriots, this time I would get to use my French army against Cecil's British.

We played scenario L "Defend Mendenhall's Battery".
The British were defending Mendenhall's two gun battery, with a force consisting of one unit of Rifle armed Sharpshooters, another unit of plain Skirmishers and a unit of Line Infantry. The officer's trait was Heroic Leader.
The French brought a force of one medium artillery piece, two units of Skirmishers, a unit of Shock infantry, and two units of Line Infantry, one of which was a Large unit of Poor Shooters. The officer's trait was Skirmish Veteran.
The French move out, unfortunately the Grenadiers and 2nd Company decide to wait one turn and see what happens.

The French artillery got shot up by both the sharp shooters and one artillery piece before the Voltigeurs came into Line of Sight and started drawing fire.

The oversize unit leads the way and absorbs all the fire (as intended), The Skirmish screen in the woods has been badly shot up, but stopped the artilley and rifles firing on the infantry in the open

A french senior officer saw my tactical brilliance, so sent me another 4 point of troops (in this case 2 units of Skirmishers to replace my 2 units of skirmisher that have been badly shot up in and behind the woods)
The French just had 3 units rout this turn, firstly the Foot Dragoons at the front of the woods, then the large infantry unit and finally the lone skirmisher behind the woods

The Grenadiers about to fail their third assault order in a row. (it was the first game and they clearly suffered from performance anxiety)
It was a victory for the forces of The Emperor (tm). Clearly brought about by superior French martial ardour and dice rolling, my one Bad activation roll result was "Brown Trousers" opposed by Cecil's "Friendly Fire", "Retreat" and two "low ammo" rolls.

We are liking the rules much more than Chosen Men.

The one not quite gripe is the effect double ones or sixes have, they can be scenario breaking, especially the one that gives four points of reinforcements, fortunately you can only get them once per per player per game.

Perry Dragoons (part 2) the horses

Finished the horses, even based and clear coated.

I tried a different way to paint the horses. I painted base coated them a dark Brown, then a heavy dry brush of white and light colours, then washed them with a variety of Brown and black washes. It gave an OK look, but was no faster and all the horses are kind of the same colours, so I think I'll go back to my usual method.

Now I will have to channel my inner Vlad Tepes of Wallachia and impale the riders.

Perry Dragoons (Part 1) The dismounted guys

I also picked up a box of Perry Miniatures French Dragoons and an extra sprue of the dismounted dragoons.

I banged these guys out, last weekend.

28mm French Infantry finished (A.K.A. Part V)

Finished up my Perry French Infantry. All I had to do was clear coat them and do their bases.

More 28mm French (part III)

Finished another batch of Perry Miniature's French line infantry.

I decided to paint all the figures in great coats.

Here is every thing I have painted so far.

All I have left to paint is the Drummer, Eagle bearer, the officer and the the six figures in action poses.

And this popped up on my door step the other day.
